The Beginning

This is where it all began. This is the page that essentially started Inquire Within.
It all started on one of the review days before Mid Terms. Myself and the guy who sat beside me in Math, Jacob, were bored. So, he decided to draw an elephant. I was jealous of his elephant and tried to copy it exactly. It didn't quite come out as expected. Jacob insisted that his was THE elephant and that there were no others, which inspired the speech bubbled above the elephant.
Then, for a reason I can't remember, we started talking about how to draw those cheap tornados (as seen on the paper). Again, his ended up slightly better than mine, which, in turn, inspired the tornado's speech bubble, and then I decided to give the elephant another speech bubble, anouncing his attack, like they always do in Pokemon/Digimon/Monster Rancher.
Then, after that we both just started doodling, me more than him. At the top is my name written in Japanese (poorly, albeit) plus the Meibukan "logo." The solitary hand resulted from us talking about how neither of us could draw hands. The eyes came out of nowhere, as did the N64 logo plus Mushroom, plus Goomba, plus Fire Flower. The other four objects are rough sketches of four spirits that appear in my novella.
And finally, I'd like to direct your attention to the two eyes in the bottom right-hand corner. I honestly can't say where they came from. I really have no idea. But wherever they did come from, well I must thank that place because as soon as I'd drawn the mouth and the eyes, it felt as if something clicked, and I knew that this would be the foundation of the comics.
I'd already drawn two comics before this, but I wasn't happy with the results or the style and I was desperately searching for a new way to do the comics. I found it.
I apologize for the low quality of the image, but it's drawn on the back of a page talking about polygons, and I had no idea that this picture would become the foundation of the future. :)
